A free magazine aimed at expat South Africans is set to launch tomorrow, after a positive response from readers and advertisers.
TNT Publishing decided to launch the monthly South African Times on a permanent basis after what it described as a “phenomenal” response to a pilot edition in April.
The publisher said the magazine will fill an important gap in the market, with more that 550,000 expat South Africans estimated to be living in Britain.
TNT Publishing chief operating officer Tony Goodman said in a statement: “With a challenging year for all media owners, we are very proud to be bringing this well-known and loved brand back for the South African community in the UK.”
He said the magazine would be ABC audited, and added: “Advertisers will relish the idea of a transparent and accountable ABC circulation policy right from day one.”
The magazine will be available in branded bins outside tube stations, supermarkets and South African shops and bars in parts of London.
The South African Times will also offer an interactive website, aimed at keeping South Africans living in London up to date with happenings back home and will provide a platform to voice opinions and discuss topical issues
The magazine will be released on the last Tuesday of every month. Tomorrow’s issue will feature a cover story on the Lions tour of South Africa.
